Is now the right time to get busy again?
Is now the right time to get busy again?
Every year from Christmas to early January, I have little to do with my phone, and certainly nothing to do with work. Over the few days of Christmas itself, I have nothing to do with my phone at all. It feels so incongruent to me to be near it. In fact generally I dislike my phone. I like nothing more than to leave it behind when I go out (once to my misfortune as I got a flat tire, but I made it through with the help of a friendly passer by!). The more I connect to nature through my garden and through foraging, the more of a distaste I have for distraction through being online. That deals with my phone though, what about work?
I love my work. The last 12 months has made me fall in love with it even more! I ran two cleanses again last year, for the first time in many years, and also launched The Mothership (pure joy!). This year I plan to run two cleanses again, I am opening the doors for new members to The Mothership in February, and I have a very exciting six week programme bubbling inside of me called Sovereign-She. In so many ways I cannot wait to start working again, but now is the not the right time.
Next Monday I will slowly start dipping my toes in the water, but I know I will not be in full creative flow for a while. In many cultures the New Year does not start until the end of February, and this makes total sense when you are considering the seasons. Right now our bodies are designed to be resting, in the Northern Hemisphere at least. It is winter. I have never run one of my cleanses in January because now is not the time to start something new. Newness, regeneration comes with Spring. My friend Gus sent me a great blog (The Ice Moon) from the Gene Keys teacher, Richard Rudd, which articulates perfectly how I feel at this time of year, and why I still lay low for a good few weeks yet. Flodesk doesn't let me integrate links into the body of text, so I have linked it in the button below…it is well worth a read.
I encourage you today to think about ways you may be pressuring yourself to move full speed into this year, ways that don't feel natural or good to you, and perhaps take a step back from them. Give yourself grace to move slowly; knowing that as the time its right, your energy will flow as it needs to - ESPECIALLY if you allow yourself to move as slowly as you need to right now, and let nature take its course.
