Tying up loose ends
In November I turn 40. I don't actually hold too much attachment to this. I lost one of my dear friends at the very beginning of 2020, before all this sh*t began. She was 28 + after months of pain, without any help from the medical system, she was diagnosed with cancer + within a month she had left us. She was beautiful in every sense of the word. Her disease + the roots of it, I won't go into here, but in no sense should it have happened to her. She was desperate to be a mother (which is part of the story) and she would have been an amazing one. She was incredibly talented, extremely creative, and a warm + kind hearted soul. I tell you all this because every time now I catch myself thinking ‘I am getting old’, I think of Luci, and how bloody grateful I should be to be alive. What she would give to still see the colours in the sky that I am seeing now, as the sun sets as I look out of my window. The moon last night was beautiful; she would have gone outside and drunk it all in…I make sure I do for me + for her.
One thing that is coming up in me though is the feeling of change within me as this new decade comes upon me. As I said, it isn't because I am spending time thinking really at all about my upcoming 40s, it is in most ways just a number to me, but it is interesting to observe the subtle but noticeable shifts in my mindset around what I want for myself over the next years of my life.
I am very naturally finding that I am keen to ‘tie up loose ends’ and be ready for the newness that is coming. Because it is coming, I can feel it in my bones.
I am sure I will have more to say on this in the coming weeks, but for now this is what has emerged onto the page as I sit here + type. Every week this is what you get…I sit…a title comes to me…I often don't know why…so I type + it transpires as it is meant to.
